Yamunotri Temple welcomes devotees from 07 May 2019 to 28 October 2019. Yamunotri is the seat of Goddess Yamuna as it is the source of sacred river Yamuna. It is one of the pilgrimage sites of Chotta Char Dham. In fact, it is the first Dham of the Char Dham Yatra, followed by Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
Nestling in the mighty Himalayas, Yamunotri is situated at a height of 3,293 metres above the sea. As a result, the temple becomes inaccessible due to heavy snowfall during the winters, especially in the months of December, January and February. Therefore, every year, the temple gets closed to the public during winters and opens its doors for darshan again in the spring season.
Being an integral part of Char Dham Yatra, Yamunotri travel packages are easily available. Those who prefer for only Yamunotri Darshan need not book the whole Char Dham package. They can simply hire a taxi from Haridwar to Yamunotri. Yamunotri Yatra is usually 04 Nights/05 Days Itinerary. The usual taxi route of Yamunotri Yatra is Haridwar - Barkot - Janki Chatti- Yamunotri - Barkot - Rishikesh - Haridwar. (Note: From Janaki Chatti, there is a 5 km trek to Yamunotri which can be covered either on foot or by palanquins or ponies.)
Book your Yamunotri Yatra Package in advance for a smooth and hassle-free journey.
