Holy places to visit in Uttarakhand

The land of India is known for its spirituality and for various mythological stories which have been part of Indian heritage from time immemorial. The massive religious destinations of India reflects the faith on rituals and culture of our society. One of the famous and the holiest place of India is Uttarakhand which includes various religious sites and is also the most visited place of worship both by Indians and foreigners. 1. Uttarkashi

Out of four Holy Shrines of Hindu mythology that is the “Char Dham” two are located here, and the holiest river in Hinduism river ‘Ganga’ is the main source that flows through here. You can feel and sense of peace in your mind with pure air around and solitude that is conferred on this land.

Uttarkashi was formed in 1960 and also considered as younger parts of Uttarakhand. The place is so pure that it can be felt in your every breath, maybe that could be a reason it attracts thousands of tourists every year. This place has no industries or anything that creates any kind of pollution but is filled with lakes and temples all over. You can feel the aura of different places as you walk through Uttarkashi and a feeling of intensified divinity. 2. Haridwar

Haridwar means ‘Door leading to God’, situated along river Ganga is a perfect example of beauty and spirituality.

Haridwar is considered to be one of the Holiest places amongst pilgrims is famous for ghats and temples. It is believed to be a place to achieve salvation and there are different Ashrams located here which narrate the Hindu heritage. The place is filled with numerous temples where the chanting can be heard all day long making it one of the most spiritual destinations. Haridwar attracts a large number of tourists from all over the world mostly during Hindu festivals like Ganga Dusshera, Kavad Mela, Kumbh Mela and Somvati Amavasya Mela. 3. Patal Bhuvaneshwar

Patal Bhuvaneshwar is a mystic place with many hidden and undiscovered mysteries. It is situated at a height of 1350 meters and is prone to rain often because of its location above the sea level. It is also well known for the Shiva Temple cave located here in the vicinity.

Located amidst forests covered with oaks and cedars, this place is known for it mythological stories which are related to it. The Shiva Temple cave is one of the major visited tourist destination in this spot because of its beauty and spiritual aspect. This place has a lot more to offer if explored fully but tranquility and peace are attainable for sure.

4. Pithoragarh

Pithoragarh, also known as ‘Little Kashmir’ is a small town engaging tourists with its natural beauty. It is a gateway to the Himalayas, it is also a stopover place for pilgrims on their way to Kailash Mansarovar.

Pithoragarh is a place filled with greenery all around with beautiful forests, lakes, temples and natural scenic beauties making this place the most adorable and serene. 5. Valley of Flowers

Valley of Flowers is one of the beautiful places of Uttarakhand and has been declared as the World Heritage Site for its wild blooms enclosed within Himalayan peaks. It is also believed that Hanuman brought Sanjivani herb from Valley of Flowers to cure injured Lakshmana. It is the meeting point of western and eastern Himalayas and has numerous Himalayan water-falls which can be witnessed.
